Karen began her career as an occupational therapist in 2007 and has spent the majority of this time working in neuro-rehabilitation services. She has worked within the public sector in Social Services, the NHS, and for specialist providers. Since 2011, she has also worked as a private neurological occupational therapist. Karen’s experience has included supporting clients from the acute stage of their injury and into long term community rehabilitation. She has worked with clients who have wide ranging and complex disability, including cognitive, communication, behavioural and physical issues. Karen’s work has also incorporated working with clients detained under the Mental Health Act, and with dual diagnosis of neurological disorder. Karen has been involved in the planning, recruitment and training of carers, in order to provide appropriate and long term care. She has also completed reports and witness statements for use in the litigation process. She positively advocates for her clients and is able to effectively coordinate their support and rehabilitation needs to meet their needs and life goals.
